Mrs.
Haegstrom's students win the prize for growing the first
ripe red tomato of this season! Their bed is the one on
the far right in Vice Principal Perez's photo. I wonder
if the full sun received by that bed had anything to do
with the fact that this bed produced the first ripe tomato?
What do you think? Other beds have tomatoes but they are
still green and receive some shade during the day.

Various
stages of cherry tomatoes are shown, from the flowering
stage (left yellow flowers) to the early fruit stages
(middle) to the maturing fruit stages (right). Look at
the next photo to see size differences. Remember that
we learned from last month that our tomatoes may grow
about 1 cm. per week if conditions cooperate!
|
Some
tomatoes on the vine are about 1/2 cm. while others are
about 3 cm. Hopefully, that difference will keep a steady
supply of delicious ripe tomatoes coming!

plants include broccoli, basil, onions, and rosemary,
to name a few.

Wow...
look at this beautiful 13 cm. eggplant! This is one of our
largest. If you have a tasty recipe that uses eggplant, please e-mail Ms.
Avina to share
it.
