On a coordinate plane, the horizontal axis is called the x-axis.The vertical axis is called the y-axis.
Coodinate Geometry Info

The Coordinate Plane is a grid that uses two number lines to locate points.

The location of a point is given with an ordered pair of coordinates. In an ordered pair, the x-coordinate is first and the y-coordinate is second, (x,y).
The x-axis and y-axis intersect at a point called the origin. On the x-axis, the positive values are to the right of the origin and the negative values are to the left.
The coordinate axis divide the coordinate plane into four quadrants. They are numbered 1-4 counterclockwise from the upper left.
